I believe you can buy other stuffs like cooking ingredient or crafting materials which you can then sell on trading post. This is a nice way to monetarize those karma point. You can buy the temple gear and throw it in the mystic forge.
Karma ingredients are account bound, I think what Assassinin is suggesting is cooking with those ingredients and then selling the result. Getting cheap karma exotics WvW gear comes to mind and tossing them in the Mystic Forge would also get around the no-salvage, no-sell problem, I think. While cultural weapons are "only" rares, they are bought for the skins. For example, i love the skins of the sereph longbow and greatsword, so that is where i spend my karma. I've had access to this for over a month now - I check each agent everyday - but I haven't found any recipes that I want. Posted August 12, I'm going to give you all a tip here: If you enter WvW, in any spawn area you will find a vendor who will sell you lvl 80 rare weapons for k karma. I use mine to get oby shards, cos you need'em to craft ascended stuff too. Tanner Blackfeather.
