She thought it would interest me quite a bit, seeing as how I love that sort of stuff. The next three days after signing up was a blur. I remember being stuck in my room, only leaving for food or bathroom breaks. After that weekend, I created 3 boards of my interest: street style fashion, jewelry, and album covers. My street style and album cover board found a decent amount of popularity. I was gaining 10 to 20 followers in a day, and it continued to rise as the months and eventually, years passed.
The little fame I got out of Pinterest motivated me to do better. I was spending hours and hours online scouring the net, looking for the perfect photo to add to my collection. That was a rude awakening. I realized I was caught up in this virtual world and forget about the real one.
My grades suffered as well as my relationship with my family and friends. And on the rare occasion that I did go out, I was on my phone, still on the app. Pinterest took up a good 2 years of my life, and I did form some bond with a few users. But my decision to leave Pinterest was ultimately a sound one. Now, I have more time to focus on other more important things. I do miss having a way to express my creativity, which Pinterest is perfect for. But I eventually found my own outlet for creativity, somewhere a little removed from social media.
If you plan on taking a break from your Pinterest life as I did, there are many ways to go about it. But this visual discovery engine can get overwhelming at times as well. Fortunately, you have the option to delete your Pinterest account permanently. The process is straightforward, and you can easily do it from almost any device. Many people prefer to browse Pinterest and pin their selections on their computers.
You get a better view of the items on the home feed and can manage the boards with just a few clicks. Follow these steps to close the Pinterest account permanently:. This action will immediately remove your Pinterest account, as well as the data associated with the account.
I'd like to get credit, but I'm not going to hassle people who forget to do that. However, this past weekend I read two posts, here and here , that convinced me I should reconsider.
One of these posts was written by a lawyer and is full of important information that we all should pay attention to. So, read it! Seriously, for your own good, if you are using Pinterest, read these two posts and see if it still seems worth it for you to stay with Pinterest.
Despite the fact that I'd initially meant to only pin my own photos, I quickly started including public domain photos from NASA and other government entities. Before long I was also including great photos of the moon, of gorgeous landscapes, of all sorts of images that were floating around Pinterest and I soon realized that I had no idea where these images had come from.
I don't know if I violated any copyright laws by posting the things I did, and while I personally believe that if you post an image on the internet! So, I started deleting photos that I thought might be in violation and before long, very little was left on my boards -- and I decided to pull the plug on the whole thing. Stay tuned!
